Create Opportunities By Connecting

You have to have a massive audience to be considered successful…RIGHT?!

Most people I chat with tend to think that this is the standard for thriving.

When in reality, a small to a medium-sized herd of die-hard fans can create a lot of opportunities for you.

In fact, it’s easier to go deeper and truly build relationships with one person at a time.

It’s hard to keep it personal with a massive audience, especially when it’s composed of empty followers who quickly double-click and keep scrolling.

I’m assuming you want people to actually vibe to you as human, not just your work.

That’s why I’m kicking off this 2-part training.

The goal is to share my biggest tips for creating community, clients, customers, and collectors that vibe to you AND your work.

  • Part 1 will share my biggest time-tested tip that is the foundation of my business.

  • Part 2 will pepper you with a checklist of unscalable tactics to stack on top.

Both parts together will significantly allow you to connect with people on a deeper level.

It’s a perfect topic that stacks on top of the previous session breaking down the Art of Communication.

It’s time to put the “personal” in “personal brand” (and even personal projects).

To me, it all boils down to constantly creating a powerful, personalized experience.

A personalized experience can lead to a lot of rad opportunities.

This is a little philosophy I stumbled across in my journeys that has helped me:

  • Create great, memorable first (and ideally recurring) impressions.

  • Boost engagement and create convos around my work.

  • Convert followers and subscribers to a tight-knit tribe.

It also has allowed me to:

  • Generate sales of my products, services, and art.

  • Build brand ambassadors who spread the good word.

  • Nurture incredible relationships.

To summarize, it’s a powerful way to build Know, Like, and Trust—which to me is Marketing 101.

But I like to take this approach from a more human-driven perspective.

You know, like actually treating people like people, versus seeing everyone as walking vanity metrics and dollar signs.

How do you know when it’s working?

You’ll notice it working when the same people continually:

  • Consume what you create.

  • Share it with their friends, family, or followers.

  • Engage with your work and strike up convos with you.

You’ll really know when it’s working when you get messages saying:

  • “Wow, I can’t believe you took the time to respond!”

  • “Dude, it’s like you’re reading my mind in your latest caption.”

  • “Your latest podcast episode/artwork/video/t-shirt graphic/etc. felt like it was made specifically for me.”

What does creating this type of experience look like and how do you do it?

There are some super easy tactics you can implement ASAP (Part 1).

Then there are more tedious tactics to implement that most people are “too busy” to put into action (Part 2).

However, building both easy and tedious tactics into your routine will make those short and long-term results you’re looking for a realistic possibility—not just a wish.

ONE POWERFUL PERSONALIZED TIP

1. Speak to ONE Person—your Perfect Person

Instead of trying to create and address the masses…

Make the game easier to play by addressing ONE person at a time.

This means writing to, speaking to, and addressing that Perfect Person in whatever you create and share (even if multiple people are consuming it like a podcast, email, or video).

This is called speaking in the second-person point-of-view—it operates through the lens of the “You” perspective.

The entire goal of this is to make someone feel like you’re creating and/or speaking specifically and directly to them.

They may not notice it right away, but over time, it’ll subconsciously:

  • Make them crave YOUR content more.

  • Connect them to YOU on a more personal level.

  • Increase the chances of them engaging with YOU.

(See how I’m using the word YOU/YOUR for example? 😎)

The Goal: To one day master both who your Perfect Person is during a season and how to speak directly toward them in the Second-Person.

2 Examples of Second-Person PErspective

Here are 2 scenarios of how I’ve leveraged second-person perspective over the years.

1. In my podcast intro:

  • I don’t say: “What’s goin’ on, everyone? You’re all listening to the Side Hustler’s Perspective Podcast…”

  • I say: “What’s goin’ on? You’re listening to the Side Hustler’s Perspective Podcast…”

2. In my IG Live call to action:

  • I don’t say: “If everyone is vibin’ to this topic and you all want to go deeper with me. I’d love the privilege to work with all of you in my upcoming Boot Camp.”

  • I say: “If you’re vibin’ to this topic and you want to go deeper with me. I’d love the privilege to work with you in my upcoming Boot Camp.”

(For real though, I’d love to work personally with you to drop more tips like this if you join the Waitlist and/or enroll in an upcoming Boot Camp!)

One Small Tweak = Big Compounding Results

You may think this little tip is so ridiculously simple that there’s no way it could possibly work…

But it truly has been my go-to method for connecting with community, clients, customers, and collectors on a deeper level.

Which has only benefited my creative business AND sparked some insanely awesome relationships with people who give a shit about me and my work.

What if one small tweak in your approach could have a radical compounding effect over time?

To me, making a minor adjustment like this is worth being intentional about…

The results my students and I have experienced speak for themselves!

Action Item: I challenge ya to monitor how you address your audience and pretend you’re speaking to ONE person moving forward.

Report back when you start to notice it working.

Keep showing, keep putting in the work, and keep creating—YOU GOT THIS! ✌🏻🍕
